Brampton driver 3 times legal limit

Calls from concerned drivers have led to charges for a Brampton man allegedly caught driving with more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The traffic stopped around 8 a.m. on Wednesday after officers from the Caledon OPP say they received complaints from motorists about another driver.

Police later located the vehicle on Mayfair Road near Hurontario Street in Caledon and said officers had reason to believe the driver was impaired.

The 29-year-old male driver from Brampton allegedly registered more than three times over the legal limit for alcohol, investigators said.

Police have charged the 29-year-old driver with multiple impaired driving-related offences including operation while impaired and having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on Feb. 29. Police also impounded the driver’s vehicle for seven days while their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

Police say not to get behind the wheel if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol and to plan for a safe ride home. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, police say to call 911 to report it when it is safe to do so.
