Brampton driver injured in rollover crash

Police are warning drivers about the dangers of swerving to avoid animals on the road after a Brampton driver was injured in a rollover crash last weekend.
Around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (March 5) members of the Killaloe OPP detachment were called to an area of Quadeville Road and Jessup Road in Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan township, approximately 80 kilometres southwest of Pembroke.
Police said when officers arrived they found a utility van had rolled over and was involved in a single vehicle collision.
The driver reportedly swerved to avoid an animal on the road and lost control of the utility van, which resulted in the rollover.
The 45-year-old driver from Brampton suffered minor injuries. The vehicle was also damaged in the crash and had to be towed off the road.
The Killaloe OPP also responded to a second rollover crash on Saturday shortly before 2:00 p.m. after an SUV’s passenger side tire caught the shoulder of the roadway on Chapeski Mill Drive in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

Police said the 75 year old driver from Barry’s Bay was transported to hospital by Renfrew County Paramedics with minor injuries.
No charges were laid in either crash, but police are reminding drivers to watch for wildlife and changing road conditions.
“Swerving for an animal can result in a loss of control, putting your safety in danger,” police said in a release.
Here are some driving tips to avoid animal collisions:
- Be vigilant during the morning and evening commutes as visibility is reduced and animals are more active
- Reduce your speed and pay attention to signage that indicates higher deer traffic areas
- Scan the road, and remember that deer don’t travel alone, where there is one animal, there is likely another
- Do not take unsafe evasive actions, serious collisions can occur when drivers lose control of their vehicles
