Car towed for failing to stop for police
Peel Regional Police have charged a driver with going 50 km/h over the speed limit in Brampton.
On Jan. 14, 2023, at 4:30 p.m., officers were conducting speed checks in the area of Queen St E and Airport Rd. While monitoring was in progress, police say a white Audi RS3 was caught travelling 130 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
Officers say they initiated a traffic stop, but the driver “engaged in reckless behaviour by increasing the speed and fleeing the scene.” Police say they did not attempt to pursue the vehicle for safety reasons.
On Jan. 31, at approximately 10:30 a.m., police say the same vehicle was spotted travelling southbound in the area of Tobram Rd and Countryside Dr. Police say radar clocked the driver going 119 km/hr in a 60 km/h zone.
The Safer Roads Team blocked the vehicle, preventing it from fleeing a second time.
Police say a total of seven charges were laid against the driver and his license was suspended for 30 days. His vehicle was seized for 14 days.
