A Brampton driver has been taken off the road for 30 days after police say they were caught speeding 70 km/h over the limit on the weekend.

Around 11:45 a.m. on Saturday (April 2), police say officers from the Frontenac OPP detachment observed a vehicle speeding on Highway 401 near Kingston.

Police say they clocked a 21-year-old driver from Brampton driving 170 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

The Brampton resident was charged with operating a motor vehicle while performing a stunt, and the accused had their licence suspended for 30 days.

The vehicle was towed and impounded for 14 days.

Police have not yet released any information about the driver other than their age and that they are from Brampton.

The driver is scheduled to appear to answer the charges on June 13 at the Ontario Provincial Offences Court in Kingston.
