Police have charged a Brampton man after an impaired driving call led to a drug bust near Guelph.

The incident happened on July 26 around 10 p.m. when the OPP received reports of a black sedan “being driven erratically” on Highway 6, north of Guelph.

Now nearly a month after the incident, investigators say a 30-year-old from Brampton has been charged with drug possession and impaired driving offences.

Manpreet Singh Sandhu, 30, of Brampton, has been charged with impaired operation, possession of schedule 1 – heroin, and possession of schedule 1 – methamphetamine.

Police did not say whether the driver was placed on a 90-day driver’s licence suspension or a seven-day vehicle impound. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Guelph on Sept. 22.

The incident has investigators reminding the public to contact police and call 911 if you suspect someone is driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol. You can also contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip online at www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
