Police have charged a Brampton man for impaired driving after allegedly getting stuck in the snow with a stolen vehicle.

Just before 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning (Feb. 13), members of the Bracebridge OPP were called to Gull Lake Park in Gravenhurst northwest of Barrie after a member of the public witnessed a car attempt to drive out onto the lake.

Police said the driver was stuck in the snow, and when officers arrived they believed that the driver was under the influence.

They also discovered that the vehicle had been reported as stolen, according to a release.

Police have arrested and charged 25-year-old Simranjit Singh of Brampton.

He was charged with Operation While Impaired by Drug, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 and Failure to Comply with Release Order.

Singh is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 29 to answer to the charges.
