Brampton has a new hub for city cyclists to meet up, make repairs, or try out some refurbished bikes.

The Different Spokes Brampton Bike Hub opened last week at 8 Nelson St. West in a partnership with Punjabi Community Health Services (PCHS) and Bike Brampton.

The city says the grassroots, community-led hub is designed to encourage, promote and advocate for safe cycling in Brampton, and help with bike-related services like bike repair, and the resale of reconditioned bikes and bike parts.

Different Spokes also has reconditioned bikes for rent, and mentoring programs for anyone interested in becoming a part of the cycling community.

The City says it is working on adding over 30 new kilometres of walking and cycling infrastructure to Brampton’s Active Transportation network of more than 530 kilometres of cycling infrastructure, hiking, walking and recreational trails.

From May to September, the city is hosting casual cycling tours that take riders through Brampton to discover trails and routes across the city. With 5 km or 15 km routes available for cyclists of different comfort levels, the tours are held nearly every week and are guided by the Brampton Cycling Advisory Committee.

The rides typically last between 45 minutes to an hour and a half, and guests are encouraged to register online ahead of time.

All cyclists are welcome, whether you live in Brampton or are just visiting.
