A Brampton-based company has been included among the latest cohort for a Canadian incubator.

Just Vertical, a company that creates indoor vertical hydroponics which provides up to 10 pounds of produce per month, has been listed as one of the companies in the third cohort of ventureLAB’s Hardware Catalyst Initiative.

Just Vertical’s hydroponic garden systems provide year-round fresh produce, and they’re 95 to 99 per cent more energy-efficient than other gardening systems.

The Hardware Catalyst Initiative is Canada’s only hardware and semiconductor incubator, and it provides eight emerging tech companies with mentorship opportunities from global tech leaders, as well as in-person and virtual access to specialized semiconductor lab equipment that companies may not otherwise be able to afford at their current stage of development.

“In order to build an economy of the future, we need to create the jobs of the future. If our brightest minds and our most promising tech graduates don’t see transformational career opportunities in Canada, we’ll lose them,” Melissa Chee, President and CEO of ventureLAB, said in a news release.

“That’s a major part of what the Hardware Catalyst Initiative aims to do, and it’s clear from this third cohort of participants that Canada’s tech leaders of tomorrow have the vision and the talent needed to help modernize our economy. Now it’s our job to give them the tools they need to get there.”
