Brampton City Hall topped the list of ten city buildings ranked for accessibility through the Rick Hansen Foundation’s accessibility certification program.

The program rates businesses and public buildings to help find ways to remove barriers and make communities more accessible.

According to a release, City Hall received the highest ranking on the list at 75 per cent.

The Bramalea Transit Terminal and Brampton Gateway Transit Terminal were both rated at 74 per cent accessible, while the Provincial Offences Courthouse came in at the bottom of the list at 68 per cent.

The Rick Hansen Foundation was established in 1988 following Hansen’s Man in Motion wheelchair marathon which saw him travel some 40,000 kilometres across 34 countries.

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown said the city is committed to removing barriers for people with disabilities “so that everyone in our diverse community can participate fully.”

“By better understanding our locations’ levels of accessibility, we can continue to work towards making a city that is more inclusive and accessible for all,” Brown said in a statement.
