Police closed a section of a major Brampton street as they seek public assistance in a possible case of child endangerment.

Heartlake Road was shut down in both directions between Heart Lake Conservation Park and Sandalwood Parkway as officers looked for a two-year-old girl who might have been endangered by an adult. Peel Regional Police say they received a call expressing concerns that a man was not holding the hand of a two-year-old child while they crossed a busy street. The man was pushing a garbage can.

Officers say they went to a home where there was a child, but the occupants were uncooperative.

Around 8:50 p.m., Peel police said they had confirmed that the little girl was safe and in good health.

The Peel police asked anyone who has dashcam footage or who could assist in another way for assistance. The pertinent time and location would have been around 4 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 27) while travelling on Sandalwood Parkway and Hwy. 410.
