Brampton Burglar Arrested After Being Discovered in an Attic

Peel police recently arrested a 36-year-old Brampton man who is known to police after a burglar alarm alerted them to a break-in in progress in the Queen Street West and Mississauga Road area in the city.
According to Peel Police Constable Harinder Sohi, police received a call from an alarm monitoring company at 7:25 a.m. to alert them that an alarm had sounded in a currently unoccupied Brampton home.
Officers went to the home and noticed footprints going in and none going out, so they proceeded to set out a perimeter. Tactical Units came on scene and eventually discovered a lone male hiding in the home’s attic.

“When officers were outside, they saw him. He went into the attic and started tearing away at soffits and we could see him stick his head out,” says Const. Sohi.
Const. Sohi says the tactical units searched the house floor-by-floor and used a camera to peer into the attic. Once the man was spotted, he was arrested and taken into custody.
The 36-year-old suspect has been charged with one count of break and enter, one count of fail to comply with recognizance (failure to attend court) and one count of breach of probation.
Since the suspect was caught in the home, no property was taken.
The homeowners are currently away.
