Brampton and St. Catharines men face gun and drug charges after a traffic stop in Midland

Brampton and St. Catharines residents face drug and gun charges after a traffic stop in Midland.

OPP say they stopped a vehicle on Simcoe County Road 93 for a traffic violation at 9 p.m. Aug. 7.

Police spoke to two people in the vehicle and then called in additional support officers.

The OPP seized a loaded 9 mm Glock handgun, heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, oxycodone, Canadian currency along with drug paraphilia.

Joshua Darren Buddington, 20, of Brampton faces the following charges:

  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
  • Possession of loaded, prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Speeding one to 49 km/h over posted limit
  • Driving without a licence
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs (two counts)

Dishon Gillespie, 23, of St. Catharines faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of loaded, prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs (two counts)

Gillespie and Buddington are being held for a bail hearing and will appear in Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
