Just 34,000 first doses and 112,000 second doses still need to be administered for Brampton and Mississauga to reach 90 per cent vaccination coverage against COVID-19.

According to Dr. Lawrence Loh, Medical Officer of Health for the Region of Peel, Brampton is currently at 26.5 new cases per 100,000 people, and test positivity is at 2.6 per cent.

As of Wednesday (October 10), 88 per cent of residents of Peel have received one dose of a vaccine, and 82 per cent have been fully immunized.

Additionally, based on current trends and outreach programs, the Region is expected to reach 90 per cent coverage by mid-November.

“The sooner we get there, the sooner we can ensure our community will continue to remain open,” Dr. Loh said during Mayor Patrick Brown’s weekly press conference on Wednesday. “Every dose brings us closer.”
