A 7-Eleven in Brampton will not be moving forward with an application for a license to sell alcohol.
The store, located at 150 Main Street North in Ward 1 of the city, has withdrawn its application with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) due to pushback from the community.
“Thank you for your participation and sharing your feedback,” reads a joint statement from Mayor Patrick Brown and Rowena Santos and Paul Vicente, Regional Councillors for Wards 1 and 5.
“Due to our collective feedback regarding our concerns related to this location, 7-Eleven decided to withdraw its application for the 150 Main St. N. location,” the statement continues. “It was acknowledged that this location in downtown Brampton has a significant and unique set of characteristics and issues that required serious consideration.”
The downtown-Brampton 7-Eleven was one of 61 Ontario locations that submitted an application with the AGCO to be able to sell alcohol last winter.
