Both Niagara Region school boards posted early this morning that due to road conditions, there would be no in-class learning today (January 18) as all schools are remaining closed.

The Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) posted early this morning that yesterday’s inclement weather is still affecting the road conditions as in many communities, residential road still haven’t seen a plow.

However, while both boards did say that online learning was optional. not mandatory, today.

The NCDSB tweeted, “Mother Nature 2 – Back to School – 0. All schools and sites are closed due to poor conditions on Niagara’s roads and sidewalks. Asynchronous learning is available for those who want it. Otherwise, enjoy the bonus day and we look forward to seeing you back at school Wednesday!”

The District School Board of Niagara had a similar post on their website, saying, “Today, all schools and administrative sites are closed due to snow still being cleared from sidewalks and roadways. Students can access optional asynchronous learning by logging into Google classroom or D2L. Please stay warm and safe today.”
