Kids and adults in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon who haven’t had a COVID-19 booster are being encouraged to get the jab this weekend at a family-friendly, after-hours clinic this weekend.

Part pyjama and part vaccination clinic, Peel Public Health (PPH) is running a “Boosters Before Bedtime” clinic in Caledon on Sunday (Feb. 20) at the Caledon East Community Complex.

The clinic will run from 1:00 p.m. until midnight, and PPH said it hopes to welcome as many residents as possible as the Province moves ahead with the easing of public health measures.

The extended clinic hours and walk-in availability will give residents the flexibility to get vaccinated when it is convenient for them, with all residents aged 5 and older who are eligible for their first, second or booster dose are invited to attend.

“The clinic will be fun and festive with an aim of making the experience for children as comfortable as possible, which includes encouraging them to wear their pyjamas if that puts them more at ease,” PPH said in a statement.

Caledon Mayor Allan Thompson and Councillor Jennifer Innis will be at the clinic from 2:-3PM to greet residents along with Dr. Monica Hau, Peel’s Associate Medical Officer of Health.

The Region of Peel Public hit another vaccination milestone on Friday, with PPh saying 50 per cent of eligible Peel children aged 5-11 have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

PPH said the milestone “signifies protection so we can get our kids back to doing the things they love.”

Teens are now eligible for the booster if they received a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine more than six months ago.

With the province easing COVID-19 restrictions including capacity limits and proof of vaccination requirements over the next few weeks, Peel Region’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Lawrence Loh urged residents to “get vaccinated and boosted without delay.”
