Book lovers will have a chance to discover new authors, browse unique titles and connect with fellow readers this weekend as the first-ever Mississauga Book Expo comes to Port Credit.

The inaugural event is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Port Credit Legion, located at 35 Front Street North.

Organizers say the free event is designed to bring together local authors, readers, creatives and literary brands for a day dedicated to storytelling, creativity and community connections.

Visitors can meet local writers, explore books across a variety of genres and learn more about publishing and the creative process. The expo will also feature literary-focused businesses and organizations, offering attendees an opportunity to discover new books and connect with people who share a passion for reading and writing.

The event aims to shine a spotlight on local talent while creating a space where authors can engage directly with readers and showcase their work.

Organizers describe the expo as more than a traditional book sale, saying it is intended to be a gathering place where stories come to life, ideas are exchanged, and emerging writers can connect with the community.

The event is expected to appeal to a wide audience, from avid readers and aspiring writers to those simply looking to spend an afternoon exploring the local arts and culture scene.

Attendees can browse a range of books, including fiction and non-fiction titles, while meeting authors and discovering works that may not be found in larger retail outlets.

The expo takes place in the heart of Port Credit, one of Mississauga’s most vibrant waterfront communities, adding a local backdrop to what organizers hope will become an annual celebration of books and storytelling.

Admission is free.
