Peel Region’s health department is putting on a full court press this Saturday to get young people in Mississauga and Brampton to get a COVID shot.

They are calling the event “Crushing COVID’ and the focus will be on youth age 12-17 to come out and get their first or second dose of the vaccine.

“I’m calling on all our youth and their families to help fill the spots at Crushing COVID,” said Dr. Lawrence Loh, Peel’s Medical Officer of Health. “Together, we can keep the momentum going in Peel and get vaccinated. Protecting ourselves and our community will keep us safe through the summer before we head back to school in September.”

Crushing COVID will be held at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre (5500 Rose Cherry Pl. in Mississauga) from 3 to 9 p.m. on July 3.

At the clinic 1,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be given to the 12-17 group.

Bookings for the 12-17 group for first or second doses begins tomorrow (June 29) at 9 a.m. Book your COVID-19 vaccine – Region of Peel (peelregion.ca).

Limited walk-in appointments will be available for youth and their family members who still need a first dose.

Other family members are also encouraged to get a first shot that day. Peel Public Health is hoping that adults will also use the opportunity of bringing their children to Crushing COVID to also get their own first shot.

As well as the vaccine, prizes and giveaways are also in store for some lucky visitors throughout the event.
