Bomb threat received for 9 Oakville schools

Update: Officers searched the affected schools and no credible evidence was located to suggest a threat to the safety of faculty, students or the public, Halton Region Police said just before 11 a.m. on Thursday.

All schools have resumed normal operations, however, the investigation into the bomb threats remains ongoing, police said.

Bomb threats were received at nine Oakville schools on Thursday morning.

The Halton District School Board and the Halton Catholic District School Board received anonymous bomb threats, Halton Regional Police said at 8:20 a.m.

Police said they have not placed the schools in hold-and-secures at this time.

The following Oakville schools received threats:

  • Oakville Trafalgar High School
  • Iroquois Ridge High School
  • Abbey Park High School
  • White Oaks High School
  • Garth Webb Secondary School
  • Appleby College
  • Holy Trinity High School
  • Loyola High School
  • St. Thomas Aquinas High School

Police said there will be an increased police presence at each school to ensure public and student safety.

Officers will conduct searches of school property as part of their investigation, police said.
