Mississauga businesses can now order Rapid Antigen Screening Kits – as well as a toolkit that guides them through the testing process – through the Mississauga Board of Trade (MBOT) for free, courtesy of the provincial Ministry of Economic Development, MBOT and its local corporate partners.

For a company with 30 employees, the program’s value is more than $4,300.

The screening toolkits, called FAST (Fast Antigen Screening Toolkit), can be downloaded through MBOT’s website and were developed through the trade board’s Mississauga Economic Recovery Group initiative, which is a partnership between (MBOT), the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.

“The toolkit helps businesses plan for hosting onsite Antigen Screening,” said MBOT CEO David Wojcik, who also gave a big thanks to Morguard, who are providing the space for the program’s distribution facility at 55 City Centre Drive at no charge.

Rapid Antigen Screening kits range from $9.50 to $30 per kit. The Abbot Panbio device offered through this program retails for about $18 per kit and come in boxes of 25. Each company is provided with enough kits to provide tests to all their employees – twice per week for four weeks. For a company of 30 employees, they would receive 240 kits.

Wojcik said the kits can be used for companies who have not had an outbreak, as well as for companies who have had an outbreak and the employees are in an isolated area.

The kits are to be used for employees who do not show symptoms. Anyone showing symptoms should be referred to a clinic for a PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test.

To get the kits, businesses must complete the Provincial Antigen Screening Program agreement, book a timeslot for pick-up, and complete the pre-screen test (to be done online or at the pick-up location).

The kits can be picked up 55 City Centre Drive, Mississauga by appointment only. Drop-ins are not allowed.

The kits are available to any Mississauga company with 150 employees or fewer. Larger firms must order through the Ontario Government Portal.
