Bigger buses are being added to two of Mississauga’s busiest public transit routes to reduce overcrowding for passengers travelling to and from their destinations.

Starting June 27, MiWay is putting additional 60-foot articulated buses into service on Route 42 Derry, on weekdays, and on Route 61 Mavis, on weekends.

In addition, Mississauga’s public transit provider is also adjusting schedules on some 30 or so routes throughout the transit system “to support service reliability as traffic and ridership patterns continue to evolve throughout the city,” MiWay officials say.

They also note that the regular 300-series high school routes will not operate during the summer, and will return on Sept. 6. However, three new summer school routes will run from July 4-29.

Local and express routes that travel to high schools will also get people to and from in-person summer school classes, MiWay says.

MiWay officials say they continue to monitor all routes regularly with an eye towards making any needed service changes.
