Tickets are now on sale for the return of the Live by the Falls concert series with the first show set to feature Canadian Alt Rock icons Big Wreck.

Sales opened on April 27 for tickets to the June 11 show at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre.

Toronto-born singer-guitarist-songwriter Ian Thornley, guitarist Brian Doherty, bassist Dave Henning and drummer Forrest Williams founded Big Wreck in Boston in 1994. Their first record In Loving Memory Of… (1997), recorded in Toronto, charted four Top Forty hits in Canada.

Their follow-up The Pleasure and the Greed (2001) failed to capture the same success, but the band continued to see success performing, including a show at Roy Thomson Hall supported by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and members of the Tragically Hip.

However, the band split shorty after in 2002 with Thornley forming his own eponymous band. Thornley released a further two albums between 2004 and 2009, charting seven singles in the Canadian Rock charts.

Thornley and Doherty reunited for a show in 2010 and the following year resumed the Big Wreck moniker. They later released Albatross (2011), featuring their first single in a decade. The single would exceed even their early success topping the charts in a first for the band.

Two more record followed continuing the band’s successful comeback. Ghosts (2014) received a Juno nomination for best rock album and Grace Street (2017) tracked the Billboard Top Five.

In 2018 the band celebrated the twentieth anniversary of In Loving Memory Of…, playing the entire record at each show of  35-stop tour. In 2019 they released their most recent album But for the Sun. Tragically, Doherty died aged 51 of lung cancer shortly after the record’s release.

The band has marched on however releasing their seventh album in three parts as EPs coming out throughout 2022, supporting the releases through a tour including the Niagara Falls show.

Joining Big Wreck on June 11 is London, Ontario founded Texas King. The band formed in 2013 and debuted their first album Circles (2017) to chart success. They’ve toured “relentlessly” in the following years releasing a string of singles.

The Big Wreck and Texas King show is on of 50 performances scheduled in more than 20 venue set to rock the Falls from June 9 t0 11. Tickets are available now.
