A tractor-trailer stolen in Mississauga was recovered in Guelph on Monday night before the company that owns it knew it had been taken, police say.
Guelph Police said they were called to an address on Campbell Road at around 6:15 p.m. for reports of a man possibly trying to steal a truck.
“As officers arrived, they saw a dark-coloured Toyota Land Cruiser fleeing at a high rate of speed and evading police,” police said in a news release on Tuesday.
Officers subsequently examined the truck and “found identifying decals had been removed and parts of the dash were torn out,” police said, adding officials with the Mississauga company that owns the truck were contacted and were unaware it had been stolen.
The investigation is ongoing as police are still trying to identify the person who fled the scene.
Anyone with relevant information is asked to call police at 519-824-1212, ext. 7539, or email [email protected].
