A big increase in gas prices is coming to southern Ontario.
If you are planning a trip for the Canada Day holiday, you may want to fill up today.
Gas prices have been around $1.599 per litre for regular fuel in the Greater Toronto Area, according to affordableenergy.ca.
Premium has been at $1.899 and diesel at $1.809.
But just as families kick off the summer with the Canada Day holiday, prices are expected to go up.
An increase of five cents is expected on July 1, bringing it to $1.649 per litre in much of southern Ontario, affordableenergy.ca predicts.
Premium will hit $1.949 and $1.859 for diesel.
Still, Ontario doesn’t have the highest fuel prices in Canada.
Affordableenergy.ca reports that, among the cities it covers, Vancouver currently has the highest price for a regular litre in Canada, at $1.889.
Edmonton is the cheapest at $1.589.
