The Oakville GO station is set to undergo a major transformation, including a new pedestrian bridge, an improved bus loop, upgraded platforms and parking areas, and a range of general enhancements.
Considered the second-busiest station in the GO Transit network after Union Station, renovations are scheduled to begin this month.

Metrolinx, which operates the transit system, says the upgrades are intended to enhance access, improve safety, and accommodate growing passenger demand, while also improving the overall customer experience.
The project will be carried out in phases. Here’s what riders can expect:
Platform rehabilitation and accessibility upgrades:
- New mini-platform, canopies, and shelters
- New elevators and stairs
New multi-span accessible pedestrian bridge:
- Four elevators and staircases connecting platforms and parking structures
Bus loop improvements:
- Six additional bus platforms
- New heated passenger shelters and digital signage
Parking lot improvements:
- Top-layer asphalt replacement
- Line painting and updated signage
- New secure bike shelter
Station building improvements:
- Architectural, mechanical, and electrical upgrades
- Interior and exterior enhancements
What you should know:
Beginning this week, 100 parking spaces in the south lot will be temporarily unavailable for equipment storage. Parking will remain available in all other lots and in the parking garage.
Starting April 27, construction will begin on the widening and extension of a new temporary platform, with completion expected by July 2026. All platforms will remain open; however, passengers are advised to use caution on Platform 2, which will remain accessible during construction.
