An 18-year-old Oakville teenager is facing assault charges after striking two paramedics at St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Guelph.

The paramedics were dispatched to an address on Chancellor’s Way in Guelph around 10:20 p.m. on March 18 where they found an Oakville teenager with obvious head injuries believed to have happened in a fall.

While receiving medical care the teenager became belligerent, threatening two paramedics and flailing his fists around striking them in the arms.

He was transported to hospital where he received medical treatment. Neither paramedic required medical attention.

The Oakville teenager turned himself into Guelph Police on Monday. He is charged with two counts each of assault and uttering threats.

He is scheduled to appear in a Guelph court on May 2, 2022.
