Both Beaverton and Uxbridge are under a severe thunderstorm watch.

At 6:52 p.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 11) Environment Canada issued a thunderstorm watch for parts of Durham Region. It says that while the likelihood of thunderstorms “becoming severe has significantly diminished, there is still the possibility of strong winds and hail to accompany thunderstorms this evening.”

The warmning also covers the northern part of Durham Region.

The storm is part of a system moving eastward along the great lakes from Michigan.

A heat warning remains in effect for the entire region, including the southern part of Durham and the cities of Oshawa and Pickering.
