Battery collection day coming to Mississauga Brampton Caledon

If you live in Mississauga, Brampton or Caledon and you have old batteries to dispose of, you can put them out on the curb this fall.

Today (Oct. 3), the Region of Peel announced that it will collect single-use and rechargeable batteries starting Oct. 16.

In order to ensure your batteries are picked up, you should place them in a transparent, sealed bag and tape the ends of all rechargeable and 9V batteries. On pickup day, leave the bag on top of your closed green bin. If you do not have a green bin, you can place the batteries beside your recycling bags.

You can check the schedule here if you’re unsure of when your pick-up day is.

According to the region, it has collected over 198,000 kgs of old batteries that will not take up space in landfills.

Residents who miss collection day or who need to get rid of batteries at another time can find a drop-off location here.
