Bathrobes, refrigerators and more recalled in Mississauga, Brampton and Hamilton

Mississauga and Brampton residents are encouraged to double-check their homes for Health Canada’s most recent recalls, some being common household items.

Electrolux Recalls Frigidaire and Electrolux Refrigerators

Risk: Frigidaire and Electrolux refrigerators are recalled due to a choking hazard presented by the ice maker. The arm inside the refrigerator that detects the level of ice can potentially break into pieces and fall into the ice bucket, posing a choking hazard.

The following models are affected:

• Electrolux Four-door, model number ERMC2295AS
• Frigidaire Professional Four-door, model number PRMC2285AF
• Frigidaire Side by Side, model number FRSS2323AD, FRSS2323AS, FRSS2323AW, and FRSS2633AS

What you should do: Immediately empty the ice bucket and stop the ice maker function on the recalled refrigerators. Contact Electrolux to schedule a replacement of the ice maker with one that has a polypropylene ice level detector free of charge.

Leveret Cotton Terrycloth Hooded Bathrobes

Risk: Leveret cotton terrycloth hooded bathrobes are recalled due to a flammability hazard. Health Canada’s says their “sampling and evaluation program has determined that these products do not meet the flammability requirements for children’s sleepwear of the Children’s Sleepwear Regulations.” The affected products range in sizes from 12-18 months to 14 years. The robes are available in eight different colours.

What you should do: Immediately stop using the terrycloth hooded bathrobe and destroy the product. Leverat is offering a full refund to customers upon proof of destruction. Visit their website for more information.

Demdaco Microwavable Bowl Holders 

Risk: Demdaco brand microwavable bowl holders are recalled due to a possible fire hazard. The bowl holders are composed of cotton and linen fabric. The fabric may char when the bowl holders are warmed as intended in the microwave.

What you should do: Immediately stop using the recalled bowl holders and contact a local Demdaco retailer to obtain a full refund.

Certain Tri-Star Seafood Supply Ltd. Spot Prawns 

Risk: Tri-Star Seafood Supply Limited has recalled their live spot prawns for a possible norovirus contamination. Norovirus illness usually develops as gastroenteritis within 24 to 48 hours, but symptoms can start as early as 12 hours after exposure. The illness comes on suddenly with the main symptoms including diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach cramps.

What you should do: Check to see if you have the recalled product in your home. Do not consume the product and dispose of it immediately in the garbage.

Certain Rico ‘n Lalo brand and Mini Lalo brand frozen bars 

Risk: Certain Rico ‘n Lalo and Mini Lalo brand frozen bars are being recalled due to undeclared milk and sulphites. The specific bars include Mini Lalo Variety Pack frozen bars in flavours of raspberry, mango, coconut chocolate. These variety packs contain six 35 mL bars. Also, Rico ‘n Lalo coconut chocolate frozen bars in packs of four 80 mL bars.

What you should do: Do not consume the product if you have sensitivities to milk or sulphites as it could result in a serious reaction. Dispose of the recalled product in the garbage.

Backcountry Access Tracker4 Avalanche Transceiver

Risk: The Backcountry Access Tracker 4 Avalanche transceiver is recalled due to the risk of there being no signal transmission during emergencies. The transceivers are worn by those taking part in winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling so they can be located if they are buried in an avalanche.  The devices are yellow and black and were sold as a Tracker4 rescue package. The issue involved the transceiver toggle switch. It may separate from the product. The toggle switch is responsible for selecting transmit mode, search mode, or turning off the device. This separation could prevent the transceiver from switching modes following an avalanche, resulting in no additional aid in the search and rescue process in the case of an avalanche.

What you should do: Immediately stop using the recalled product and contact K2 Corporation of Canada for a replacement product.
