An alleged bank robber didn’t make it far.

Shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, a man entered a bank in the area of Barton Street East and Kenilworth Avenue North, Hamilton police said. He passed a note to a bank teller, demanding money and telling the person he had a gun.

The teller gave the cash and the suspect fled on foot, according to police. The police didn’t specify the amount of cash he stole.

But within minutes of the robbery, police say officers tracked down and chased the male suspect and arrested him in the area of Graham Avenue and Main Street East.

Jason Tyler Bell, 36, was charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order.
