Bandits on motorcycles rob banks in Burlington and Oakville

Bandits wearing motorcycle helmets are believed to be responsible for two bank robberies — one in Burlington, the other in Oakville — last week.

Halton police reports indicate that both incidents took place on Wednesday, Sept. 6 within 30 minutes of each other.

The first robbery happened when the helmeted-clad pair entered the National Bank of Canada branch at 2680 Sheridan Garden Dr. in Oakville and demanded cash from the teller.

According to police, the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the pair who then fled the building and drove off on a motorcycle.

Then, just before noon, another National Bank of Canada branch was targetted, this time at 3315 Fairview St. in Burlington when again two men wearing motorcycle helmets entered and demanded cash from the teller. When they received an amount of money the two then again fled on a motorcycle.

No weapons were seen in either robbery and there were no injuries. Other than the helmets and the motorcycle there are no further descriptions of the suspects.
