Bakery serving Lebanese manakeesh and desserts opens in Oshawa

For those craving fresh manakeesh, Lebanese pies, and baked goods hot from a traditional open flame oven, a new spot has opened its doors in Oshawa.

Al’deewan Bakery launched its fifth location on May 16 inside a busy plaza at 462 Taunton Rd. W.

According to its website, the bakery prides itself on using original techniques and equipment, including an oven imported from Lebanon that sets it apart from conventional pizza-style ovens.

Menu items include more than 30 variations of manakeesh with flavours such as za’atar, cheese, beef, chicken and spinach.

Alongside savoury baked goods, the shop offers smoothies in flavours such as orange, pineapple, mango, banana, mint lemon and mixed berries, as well as trending desserts like the strawberry and pistachio Dubai-style chocolate cups.

Al’deewan Bakery, which first opened more than 35 years ago, now operates in Scarborough, Newmarket, Ottawa and Oshawa, with more locations planned.

The Oshawa bakery is open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
