Youth who are interested in getting their certification in babysitting will have the opportunity to do so by taking a course in Milton this weekend.

The course, which aims to empower youth, is taking place this Saturday, Aug. 20 at St. Paul’s United Church, located at 123 Main St. E.

It is being hosted by SOS 4 KIDS INC. and will provide youth with the confidence and skills required to care for both themselves and for other children.

The course will cover the management of difficult behaviours as well as essential content on leadership and professional conduct.

Along with learning how to care for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged children, participants will also learn problem-solving and decision-making skills for emergencies, strategies for creating a safe environment and preventing injuries, communication, basic business skills and more.

The cost of the course is $84.75 per person.

Those attending are being asked to bring a doll or teddy bear to the class and to bring a nut-free lunch and snacks.
