Award-winning restaurant opens its first location in Mississauga

A new shawarma restaurant from Waterloo is opening soon in Mississauga.

Shawerma Plus is slated to open this Saturday (Sept. 24) at 4700 Ridgeway Dr., Unit 67 in Mississauga.

Founders Asem Ghabra (award-winning chef) and Baraat Khudeir first opened in 2012 in Waterloo, and won reader’s choice, Trip Advisor and other awards in Kitchener-Waterloo.

They have since expanded in Waterloo and now have plans to open locations across Ontario including London, Kirkland Lake, Port Elgin and Kitchener. Another location is slated to open in Mississauga at 6435 Erin Mills Pkwy. in December.

Shawerma Plus, a quick service restaurant, has both chicken and beef shawarma wraps. There are falafel, lamb kebob and shish tawook chicken wraps. Shawarma plates with hummus and salads are also on the menu.

A plate called “Micho Nachos” combines chicken shawarma on fried pita chips, topped with tabbouleh, garlic mayo and tahini.
