Average St. Catharines rents see a 6.3% decline from July to August

In a stunning reversal from past rent reports, Rentals.ca says the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in St. Catharines actually dropped 6.3 per cent from July to August.
Not only that, the rent for a one-bedroom unit dropped 1.4 per cent when compared to August 2022 prices.
St. Catharines was well down the list when compared to 34 other communities across Canada, placing 26th.
The report said the cost of the average one-bedroom unit in the Garden City was $1,628 per month during August. It pegged the average two-bedroom unit at $1,972 per month, down 1.8 per cent from July.
However, the two-bedroom units did see a slight increase from a year ago, nudging up 1.6 per cent from August 2022.
The national average for one-bedroom units in August was $1,879 per month while the typical two-bedroom apartments ran $2,339 a month.
