A Brampton man is planning a trip decades in the making after winning a huge $75,000 lottery prize.

Mark Stines lives in Brampton and has been playing the lottery for 20 years, with Instant Tickets and Lotto 6/49 as his favourite games.

The father of two and auto worker says he was out for a walk when he scratched a winning ticket, revealing a $75,000 jackpot.

“I was shocked and grateful, it’s very exciting,” Stines said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

The 57-year-old called his family to share in the good news but says his sister took some convincing.

“She said, ‘I hope it’s true. Maybe you’re looking at it wrong.’ She didn’t believe me until I went to her house and showed her,” Stines said.

Stines plans to use the winnings to visit Jamaica in the summer and plan a trip to the Philippines.

Instant Lucky Lines is available for $3 and the top prize is $75,000. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.57, OLG says.

The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.

The winning ticket was purchased at Canadian Tire on St. Clair Ave. in Toronto.
