Attempted murder charges after machete attack during home invasion in Brampton

Two men have been charged with attempted murder and various other offenses after a machete attack during a home invasion in Brampton last year.

According to Peel Regional Police, multiple suspects broke into a home near Mayfield and Marysfield Rds, near the city’s northern tip, around 6 a.m. on March 5, 2022. Six people were at home at the time of the break-in.

During the home invasion, the suspects broke windows and property and assaulted the people inside. One victim was struck with a machete during the attack. They were seriously injured and needed to be rushed to a local hospital for treatment. The other five victims were treated on the scene when paramedics arrived.

More than a year later, on Apr. 25, 2023, arrested two men in connection to the attack. They are; Abhishek Abhishek and Harmandeep Behleem, both age 22. Both have been charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault, three counts of mischief and break and enter. Abhishek was also charged with uttering threats.

Both were detained until bail hearing and appeared in Brampton court.
