Attempted murder charge filed after cops make arrests in Brampton

Two men have been arrested and another is sought by police following a shooting in Brampton.

The incident took place on Monday (June 20) in the area of the Sandalwood Pkwy. and Chinguacousy Rd.  When officers arrived at the scene just after 11 p.m. they found a 20-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Officers from the Peel Regional Police Criminal Investigation Bureau took over the case and subsequently two arrests have been made while another remains at large.

Alexander Maharaj, an 18-year-old man from Brampton, is charged with:

  • Accessory after the fact to commit an indictable offence
  • Attempted murder using firearm

Rithushan Kumarathasan, a 19-year-old man from Brampton, is charged with:

  • Accessory after the fact to commit an indictable offence

A warrant is being sought for the arrest of Harnoor Thind, a 20-year-old man from Brampton.

Police are asking Thind to turn himself in.
