Attempt to break into Brampton youth prison under investigation

An attempted break-in at a Brampton youth prison has police asking for help with their investigation.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on March 28, several suspects were seen trying to enter the Roy McMurtry Youth Centre, a juvenile detention centre off of McLaughlin Rd. in south Brampton.

However, the crew of suspects was unable to get into the facility. They scattered before Peel Regional Police officers could arrive at the scene. “Investigators believe this was a targeted incident, and there was no risk to public safety,” police said.

The investigation is ongoing. However, police have no suspect descriptions at the moment.
