Arrest made in Niagara Falls sexual assault case on Boxing Day

Niagara Police have made an arrest in connection with a sexual assault case at a Niagara Falls tourist attraction on Dec. 26.

Police allege that on that day at 7:50 pm,  a woman was leaving the bathroom area of the arcade inside the Skylon Tower on Robinson St. when she was approached by a man from behind. Reports say the man confronted the woman and grabbed her in an aggressive sexual way before fleeing the scene.

The woman received minor physical injuries and was assessed at the scene by paramedics before being transported to the hospital for treatment. The victim has since been released from the hospital and continues to recover at home.

Today (Dec. 29), police identified the suspect and arrested him at a home in the Morrison Street and Homewood Avenue area of Niagara Falls.

Matthew Graham Archer, 37, of Niagara Falls, has been charged with sexual assault.

The accused is being held in custody for a bail hearing and will appear via video link to the courthouse in St. Catharines on Dec. 30.
