Arrest made in fatal Whitby stabbing

An arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing that happened in south Whitby Wednesday afternoon.

The incident, which police are describing as “domestic-related,” happened on Regatta Crescent, which is south of the Gordon Street and Victoria Street intersection, near Lake Ontario, around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim was rushed to a trauma centre but died in hospital, the eighth murder this year in Durham Region.

Durham Police, with the help of the Ontario Provincial Police, were able to take a suspect into custody shortly before midnight last night.
