A 24-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested after a man in his 40s was shot multiple times Wednesday (July 28) morning in a “bushed area” in Stoney Creek.

Police said they were searching for multiple suspects in the area of Centennial Pkwy and the QEW after the suspects reportedly shot a man at around 6:45 a.m. and then stole what appeared to be a Walmart delivery truck.

Police say the delivery driver was “inside the truck” when it was stolen.

The area of Green to Millen Rd and Hwy 8 to the escarpment was taped off by police during the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, South Meadow Elementary School was placed in Hold and Secure just after 11:30 a.m.

The victim of the shooting was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect is facing “multiple charges” in connection to the incident and they are still investigating.
