A career as an Army Reservist is more than just being a weekend warrior. How much more? A visit to the National Canadian Army Reserve Job Fair on Saturday in Oshawa is a good way to find out.

The job fair will take place at the Colonel R.S. McLauglin Armoury at 53 Simcoe St. N, home of the Ontario Regiment RCAC, which will be welcoming the public to showcase employment opportunities with the famed regiment, which was formed in 1866.

Visitors will be able to meet Army Reservists, try out some of their equipment, view interactive displays and participate in dynamic and informative activities. Those interested in a career as a reservist will be able to initiate the Canadian Army enrolment process by applying on-site, with recruiters on site with all the details.

The Canadian Army Reserve is a professional force achieving “operational excellence at home and abroad” and plays a key role in the success of domestic and international military and peacekeeping operations.

The job offers sustained and stable employment and financial support for education, along with adventure and unique experiences, all while earning competitive salaries and gaining new transferable life skills.

Typically, reservists with the Ontario Regiment train Tuesday evenings from September to June and one weekend a month. Full-time summer employment is also available.

Jobs include Armoured Soldier, Armoured Officer, Resources Administrator and Financial Services Administrator.

The Ontario Regiment earned battle honours in World War 1 at the Somme, Vimy Ridge, Passchendaele and others. The Second World War in Italy was marked by a conversion to a tank regiment, with Aquino its most notable battle honours site.

The job fair will happen between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
