Armed and “distraught” student at Anderson Collegiate in Whitby taken into custody

Durham Police have a “distraught” student in custody after an incident at Anderson Collegiate in Whitby Friday morning.

West Division officers responded to a call about an armed person at the school just after 10 a.m. Anderson was placed in lockdown and police were able to diffuse the situation and take the student into custody.

Police say there were no physical injuries and there are no safety concerns at this time.
