Peel Regional Police are searching for an armed and dangerous suspect after a man and woman were critically injured in an incident in Mississauga on Thursday evening.
Early reports indicate the two people were stabbed.
Police have identified the suspect as 46-year-old Jordan Sangwin and are warning members of the public not to approach him.
“Considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach, please call 911 if seen,” Peel police said in an update issued Thursday night.
The investigation began shortly after 7 p.m. when officers were called to Briarwood Avenue in the area of Hurontario Street and Lakeshore Road East in Port Credit for reports of a disturbance.
Emergency crews arrived to find two injured victims at the scene.
Peel Paramedic Services performed life-saving measures before transporting a man and a woman to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.
Police have not released details about the nature of the victims’ injuries or what led to the incident.
A large police presence remained in the area Thursday night as investigators continued to gather evidence and search for the suspect.
Authorities have not said whether the victims and suspect knew each other, nor have they released information about any potential motive.
Police are urging anyone who sees Sangwin to call 911 immediately and not attempt to approach him.
The investigation remains ongoing.
