An argument outside a Bowmanville restaurant left a man in hospital with serious injuries when he took a tumble in the parking lot after refusing to let go of the door handle of a vehicle trying to leave the area.
Durham Regional Police responded to pedestrian-involved accident outside the Montana’s restaurant on Highway 2 in Bowmanville just after noon on Friday. A Chevrolet pick-up truck was parked when a man approached and started an “altercation.” The pick-up truck driver attempted to leave the area but the pedestrian held onto the driver’s door handle and subsequently fell.
The victim was taken to local hospital and later transported to a Toronto trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and co-operated with police.
Members of the Durham Police Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene. The collision is still under investigation.
