Area of St. Catharines reporting high COVID-19 positivity

One area in St. Catharines is among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario, according to recent data from Toronto-based research group ICES.

ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of Nov. 7 to 13.

Of the top 50 listed, one is in St. Catharines: Postal code L2N at 7.27% positivity.

L2N has the 17th highest positivity in Ontario.

The same data for the week indicates that Niagara region has the 8th worst COVID-19 positivity out of all 34 Ontario public health units.

Niagara is listed 8th at 3.49%, while Ontario overall is 16th at 2.25%.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of Nov. 7 was 2.3%, up 0.4% from the previous week, according to ICES’s data.
