Are You Planning to Visit Rideau Hall This Summer?

Have you already booked your tickets for a relaxing summer holiday?
A trip to the west coast, or a European country, or perhaps something more local.
To add to your list of options, Ottawa’s Rideau Hall is open to the public and there’s a lot to discover.
Governor General Julie Payette is calling on people to explore Rideau Hall, which will feature free events and activities throughout the summer.
Here’s what you can do at Rideau Hall.
Annual CHEO Teddy Bear’s Picnic – June 23 (8 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
The 35th annual Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Teddy Bears’ Picnic will see numerous activities. There will be rides, games stage entertainment and pancake breakfast. The popular B*A*S*H Tent—Bear Ambulatory Surgical Hospital—will be open for children who wish to bring their teddy bears and other stuffed animals in for minor repairs.
Ceremonial Guard – June 24 – August 23. (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
Held daily, every hour, this ceremony is loved by everyone who witnesses it. Sentries are led by a piper to their posts at Sussex Gate and in front of the residence and it’s a delight to watch.
Storytime at Rideau Hall – June 29 – August 25 (Fridays and Saturdays) (1 p.m. – 3 p.m.)
It’s story time for the whole family! Settle in under the Reading Tent to read and participate in literary activities.
Chamberfest – August 3 – 5 (1 p.m. – 3 p.m.)
An afternoon of chamber music? If that sounds like fun to you, you can expect artists like NYO Canada, the Golnar & Mahan Trio with Mona Matbou Riahi. There will also be a quartet featuring Joshua Peters, Catherine Gray, and Yolanda and Carmen Bruno.
Plan your Visit
Start at the Visitor Centre to learn more about the history of Rideau Hall –until September 4, daily, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tour of the State rooms, where Canadians are honoured and dignitaries are welcomed.
Guided tours are free of charge and are offered daily, including on statutory holidays. This is open until June 27, on weekends, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (reservations required on weekdays).
And, from June 28 to September 3 daily, between10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. You can also stroll through the grounds of Rideau Hall and explore the paths.
You can bring a picnic and enjoy through the year from 8 a.m. until one hour before sunset.
