Although Milton Mayor Gord Krantz believes it’s inevitable Costco will be in town sooner or later, he understands that, as a private company, it’s not something he can influence too much.

Krantz’s remarks came during an exclusive interview with insauga.com publisher Khaled Iwamura.

“It’s a matter of private enterprise. I, personally, would like to see a Costco here, but they know the people from Milton are driving to Burlington and/or Mississauga to shop. Why would they locate here when people are shopping in their stores anyway?”

Krantz said he knows for a fact Costco has been considering Milton for quite some time.

“Land is pretty expensive here, so it will be a business decision. It’s only a matter of time until they locate here as the population grows. Right now, I’ve got immediate family members who drive to Burlington to shop there. But it’s going to change, sooner or later. I’m certain of that.”

Krantz went on to point out that, despite having plenty of fast food options, there is no Burger King in Milton.

“Same as Costco, sooner or later they’ll be locating in Milton. I get questions about that quite frequently.”
