A 7-storey apartment building has been approved in the Aldershot community of Burlington.

At a recent council meeting, the City of Burlington gave approvals for the project slated for 276, 284 and 292 Plains Road East.

Located between Filmandale Road and Shadeland Avenue, the plan calls for a 7-storey building with 141 living units of one, two and three bedrooms.

The site will also include 153 parking spaces of which 100 will be underground. There will be room for 78 bicycle parking spaces. The top floor will contain the building’s mechanical system and amenity areas for the residents.

Access to the property will be from Plains Road with one driveway on the east side.

Unoccupied homes currently on the site have been used in the recent past for office and commercial purposes.

The project was originally announced in 2021 and has undergone several revisions including the height which was initially proposed to be six stories.

Although the City has given its approval, those who oppose the project have a limited time to appeal the decision at the Ontario Land Tribunal.
